Interview with Luis Miguel Bueno

In the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to sit down with Luis Miguel Bueno, the EU Arabic Spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region, to discuss my experience as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow. It was an engaging conversation that allowed me to reflect on the journey that brought me from Lebanon to Denmark, where I am currently conducting my research.

During our discussion, I shared how the Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship has been a transformative experience for me, both professionally and personally. The fellowship has enabled me to engage in cutting-edge research about integrating machine learning methods with discrete choice models, while also allowing me to immerse myself in a new cultural environment.

One of the key points we discussed in the interview was the importance of understanding the eligibility and award criteria when applying for the fellowship. It’s essential to thoroughly review your application to ensure it meets all the requirements.

For those considering applying, my advice is to start early, understand the Call, be meticulous in demonstrating your eligibility, address all the requirements from the Call, share your proposal with your colleagues and ask for feedback.

Reflecting on this interview, I am reminded of the incredible opportunities that the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) program offers. Whether you’re a doctoral candidate or a postdoctoral researcher, the MSCA program provides a platform to advance your research and expand your professional network on an international scale.

I’m grateful for the chance to share my experiences with Luis and hope that my insights can help other researchers navigate the application process and take full advantage of what the MSCA fellowship has to offer.
